DIANA KINGSLEY – IN PARI DELICTO
January 13th, 2009“In Pari Delicto” is the third solo exhibition of photographs from Diana Kingsley with the Leo Castelli Gallery. The title of the show refers to a seldom used legal term meaning “In Equal Fault”.
It is easy to appreciate the subtly serious humor in these photographs. Each dynamic occurs at the collision of high and low with the dreaminess of a child bored around the house. Kingsley admits, “…first prize remains elusive, while honorable mentions abound.”
A quiet yearning is evident in the imagery. The subjects exist in a visual and contextual limbo. It is this tension that balances the minor acts of malfeasance.
