JERMAINE ROGERS – STUDIO VISIT
January 23rd, 2009This week I took some time out to visit with a good friend and amazing artist Jermaine Rogers. His studio is located in the halcyonic town of Manitou Springs, Colorado. Nestled between Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods, Manitou is steeped in natural beauty and long considered sacred by the locals. A perfect setting to create.

Each weekend Jermaine’s studio “DERO 72″ transforms into a gallery and opens to the public. It is here that you can catch up with his current exploits and possibly pick up something choice from the past.

The gallery has a warm atmosphere reminiscent of a bazaar with deep area rugs and comfortable furniture. It is situated in the midst of Manitou Spring’s arcade boasting indoor and open air games.

Many more photos after the jump.

After hours at DERO 72.

Jermaine has a busy exhibition schedule set for 2009. If you are lucky you might get a glimpse of something in progress.

Beautiful one of a kind test prints and original pen and ink drawings on hand offer unique perspective on the artist’s process.

Jermaine runs a clean establishment where Mr. Lennon enforces the rules.

In addition to high quality gallery lighting, DERO 72 is outfitted with black light. It sets the whole place off.

Rogers is an avid collector of American culture.

***Special thanks to Jermaine Rogers for letting me poke the camera around in his life. We are all richer from the experience.

I really want to get a pair of those Vans. I always wear Vans anyway and having a pair designed by one of my favorite artists is dope shizzle.
