LOOK INTO MY OWL

For nearly a year Joy Garnett has been archiving photographs of “art” that she finds on the streets and sidewalks of New York City.
Found Art: Unmonumental is published regularly at NEWSgrist the art blog she began in 2000.

The ambiguous intention of the creators leaves the classification of the impromptu installations to the discoverer. Exquisite moments occur with great frequency in existence and it is good practice to catalog them before they increase the landfill.

The chronicle feels like a dream walk through the city in which every corner turned reveals new treasure. Currently 129 instances have been recorded and I strongly recommend viewing the complete series. There are things that I miss about city life. This record is a fantastic means to recapture one of the exciting intangibles.
